Researching TV Productions-Mock the Week

Visual Codes
The set for Mock the Week is based around Panels and the 'Stage'.The panellists are often comedies and they have a selection of  'Scenes we'd like to see' and 'If this is the answer what is the question'.During the programme they talk about important topics that have happened in the news and they 'mock' and make these topics funny but they do also tell us the true information. When the panellists go to the stage they perform stand-up comedy sketches about a given topic.
The colours used are red, blue and green. The blue and green represent the world as we see in their logo which is the world and the production name on above it in white outlined in red.The blue and green connotation represents the world and the fact that Mock the week talk about global issues and news.

The hair and makeup are most likely done by the panellists themselves but the men will probably get some makeup put on to make sure their faces aren't shinning in the light. The clothes are smart casual because it isn't a serious Tv news production but it is informative and so having this style makes people understand that it's informational as well as laid back and humorous. The presenters performance is very upbeat and cheery as it is a comedy it needs to be lively otherwise it is boring and uninteresting this also engages the audience because they are talking about recent news information and most people in the audience will have research or have a brief understanding of this news and so when doing the round 'If this is the answer what us the question' and picture round the audience can also participate upon thinking funny relations the topic and what the actual news report is about.

Camera
During the production they use a lot of close up shots of the comedian speaking and they are all facing each other at a slight angle so the audience, cameras, and presents/panellists can see them this helps engage the audience both in studio and watching the final programme as we get a good view of the comedians and the eye-line of them looking at the camera as well as the audience helps us feel involved in what they are talking about. The movement is usually when panellists move from the panels to the main stage where they do stand-up comedy this is the main movement of cameras because they are moving to a different section of the studio the purpose of this is so the panellists are doing are than just sitting at a desk discussing the new the effect of this is it makes the programme more fascinating. The framing keeps all the guests and presenters in shot and a close up of each of them. All the comedians are in the foreground.

Editing

The pace is quiet fast paced as they have a lot of news to cover and activities to do.The transitions are very smooth which makes the editing continuity and we don't notice the editing much as it is so well done. For each shot the duration is usually the amount of time the comedian speaks for.
